{rag bows}

My girls have the cutest A-line haircuts, but that means I'm always on the lookout for bows and clips to dress their hair up. I'm a simple bow girl--usually a thick grosgrain ribbon tied in a bow attached to an alligator clip works perfectly, or a flower that I've adhered to that same alligator clip (where would I be without them??). My friend Lei made these bows quite awhile back, and I really liked the concept. They are SO easy, and are just a little different from the usual bow. You know what I think would be so cute? Burlap. I think I will try that next. ITEMS YOU NEED:-fabric of your choice, torn into strips: approx. 1 1/2 inches wide and 7-8 inches long-alligator clips (check beauty … [Read more...]

{adorably easy burp cloths}

For all you non-sewers (like me) this is a very simple, but adorable project. It literally just consists of sewing strips of your favorite coordinating ribbon down the front 2 sides of white burp cloths. For the girls, I chose the pink gingham and brown dot ribbon, and for the boys a blue stripe and the same brown dot. If you can sew a straight line, you can do this project!! … [Read more...]

{tissue paper frames}

This project came about by accident--it started out as one thing, and turned into something else completely. I started out by wanting to find scrapbook paper to cover 11x14 canvas boards for the nursery. I looked and looked, but nothing stood out. Then I decided to try the fabric store, and searched through my favorite designers to no avail. I loved a lot of the things I looked at, but nothing seemed quite right. One night I had some tissue paper that I gift had been wrapped in laying by my bed. It was darling--white with large, brown polka dots. I was hit with sudden inspiration, and decided to try it. It could have gone either way--tissue paper is really fragile, and I wasn't sure how … [Read more...]

{photo tiles/coasters}

I am always on the lookout for fun ideas that will display pictures of my children. I was super excited about this one, and really love how they turned out. They are easy-peasy (you'll be surprised at how simple!), totally inexpensive, and a great gift idea. ITEMS YOU'LL NEED: -your choice of 4x4 tile or stone (I used a crumbly stone) -Mod Podge, brush -Matte presentation paper for photos -felt pads, 4 per tile DIRECTIONS: -Decide which photos you would like to use, edit, and crop them. Consider what kind of tile you are using, and the look you are going for when deciding which photo effect to use. I went with the sepia tone, because I wanted it to match the stone I was using, and … [Read more...]
