You might know by now that I love anything to do with monograms, typography, and spray paint. This project uses all three, and I LOVE it!

This will literally take a couple of hours to do, and most of that is drying time! It’s fast, super simple, and SO darling! Can you imagine giving this as a wedding gift, or taking it to a bridal shower? Perfect!

ITEMS YOU NEED:

  • wooden knife block
  • spray paint
  • paper letter of choice
  • sandpaper
  • Mod Podge & foam brush

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Wipe off your knife block with a damp rag, then let dry.

  2. If there is an imprinted logo on the front (there was on mine), then fill it with putty and let dry. Sand off any extra putty, creating a smooth, even surface.

  3. Spray paint your knife block, and let dry.

  4. Rough up the edges with sandpaper if you so choose.
  5. Now, this is where having a Cricut would make my life infinitely easier. However, I don’t have one, and I was too impatient to order any vinyl (which would make this project even easier!). So, I just typed my letter in Word (I used the Engravers MS font, sized to 200), printed it, cut it out, traced it on cardstock, then cut it out once again.
  6. Using the foam brush and Mod Podge, apply the letter to the front of your knife block.
TA-DA!!

I told you it was darling!! I love the way it looks in my kitchen. I was so happy when I came across THIS idea over at House of Hepworths, so thank you!

  1. Cool! I have one of these and thought about spray painting it but never did. Now no doubt I will! Thanks for the push!

  2. I have that exact knife block! I love what you did to yours. Hmmm….It was a gift from my mother-in-law…I wonder if that would upset her or not ;)!

  3. Not only is the knife block cute, but the nail board to set it on while spray painting is a great tool, I'll have to try that!

  4. I'm a day late and a dollar short here, but thanks for linking to my knife block! I'm glad I could inspire you. Your blog is a huge inspiration for me!
