{mini bathroom makeover}

When we first moved into our house two years ago, I wasn't quite sure what to do with the kids' bathroom. I loved the tile, but since it had such a distinct pattern, I was somewhat limited with other patterns and even colors. So, I threw up a white curtain and white towels, and called it good. Over the past month, I have been working on it--adding in a dark chocolate brown through towels and a shower curtain, vinyl for the walls, and a new wall hanging. Here's what I did:1. FRAMED TWINE WREATHBecause of the prominent vinyl lettering already on this large wall, I knew I couldn't do anything else with writing. So, I took a frame that I already had, and painted and distressed it. I made … [Read more...]

{homemade bubbles}

bubbles 1 copy

It's summertime! One of our favorite activities is blowing bubbles, and we love making our own homemade version. The key ingredient is Karo syrup---it makes the solution much stronger than simply water and dishwashing liquid. Ownership is also a big deal at our house, so I decided to personalize the bubbles containers. Now, they each have their own, and they're cute, too! These would also be darling as party favors, or even for a wedding. Homemade Bubbles 2 c. Joy dishwashing liquid 6 c. water 3/4 c. Karo syrup Combine all ingredients in a gallon container, and shake well. For best results, let it settle for 4 hours before using. *This makes a lot. I cut the recipe in halves, or … [Read more...]
