Happy {Flag} Day!

This darling stars & stripes bunting is the perfect project to celebrate today, as well as the 4th of July.  It’s super easy to do, and you can get it done in less than two hours–and that’s mostly drying time! It would be so cute in a doorway, window, on a mantel or backyard fence, or as decoration behind your holiday table.

I used the darker idaho potato colored burlap, and I {love} it.  The paint colors are Rustoleum’s Navy Blue (Gloss) and Colonial Red (Satin). I really recommend that you use spray paint, as opposed to craft paint. Craft paint will soak through the burlap, saturating it much more than the lightness of spray paint. It also has more of a tendency to bleed under the tape, and you won’t get those crisp lines.  The burlap is so rough, that it’s hard to get a tight enough seal to use craft paint.

  1. Love this, found this through Shelly from Queen Inbetween’s blog today. So doing this as soon as I get all of the supplies :) One question, the burlap, I’ve only see burlap ribbon…this seems to be burlap like you buy fabric? Where did you get it? Thanks!

    1. Yep, you can buy burlap just like buying fabric! It comes on big rolls, and you can find it at places like Hobby Lobby, JoAnn Fabrics, Walmart fabric section, and probably even your local fabric store. It comes in different colors too–a natural burlap, a darker “potato sack” color (that’s what I used), chocolate brown, and more. If you go to JoAnn’s, make sure you go online and get a coupon!! Thanks so much for stopping by!! xoxo
