This post brought to you by DISH.  All opinions are 100% mine.

DVR is one of those things that once you have it, you can’t imagine living without it. As a mom of small children, it’s perfect for me–I can tape my favorite shows and movies, and then watch them after my kids go to bed at night.  My nightly chore of folding laundry, or morning run on the treadmill is made so much better when I have something I love to watch.  I also haven’t watched many commercials since, and I’m a BIG fan of that!

One conversation we’ve had consistently over the time we’ve had DVR, is which shows we’re going to record, and who gets priority.  With sports, kids’ shows, my favorite shows, and movies we want to save for the weekends, often times we’ve had to play rock, paper, scissors to make the final decision.

When I heard about the new Hopper by Dish, it really caught my attention.  What is the Hopper?  It’s a Whole-Home DVR available only from Dish, a company that provides the most HD and international programming in the US. It’s also brand spankin’ new as of only a couple weeks ago!

It has some really exciting new features…

*Hopper Transfers!   This is the long-awaited solution to being able to watch programs when traveling WITHOUT an internet connection!  Simply transfer your DVR recordings to your iPad with the free Hopper Transfers app before you leave the house, and you can enjoy your favorite movies, or entertain your kids on long road trips, even when you don’t have an internet connection.  Now THAT is fabulous.  :)

*Auto-Hop!  Hate commercials?  Dish created commerical-free TV!  Now you can instantly skip commercials in recorded primetime TV on ABC, CBS, NBC, and Fox programming, available to you up to 8 days after initial air date.

*Whole Home HD DVR Functionality!  You have full functionality on every TV with the Hopper, meaning you can pause, rewind, and record live TV in any room, and then access your recorded shows on all of your TV’s!

*PrimeTime Anytime! With the Hopper, you can record up to SIX different shows at the same time!  (No more rock, paper, scissors! )

  1. Thanks for sharing Kierste! I’ve actually had a DISH Hopper for a while now, and so far enjoy everything about it very much! I really am a TV junkie, so that’s why I’d have to say my favorite feature is the commercial-skipping. I work late nights at DISH and don’t want to watch TV when I get home, so that is where AutoHop comes into good use. With all the time I save skipping the ads I have time to actually watch my primetime shows before I go to work the next day without worry of being late!
