{presenting…s’mores!}

 We are a campfire family...in fact, a fire pit was one of the very first things we built when we moved in to our new house last summer.

And where there is a campfire, there are s'mores!  We have had them lots of different ways, but the good old fashioned s'more is still our favorite.  We're having a BBQ tonight with friends...an early Memorial Day celebration, and guess what's on the menu??!!

Sometimes you just want a fun and simple way to make something extra special for a party or gathering, and that's what I was feeling today with the s'mores.  I also wanted to make it easier for everyone (and myself) when it came time to putting them together--and lessen the impatience of my little ones as I'm trying to make them as fast as I can!

So...I decided to make little s'more packages---tied up with string.  ☺

First I stacked my s'mores...

(I used the square marshmallows made specifically for s'mores--they making stacking so easy!)

Then the packaging...

I cut strips of navy gingham wax paper the width of the graham cracker, wrapped it around each s'more. I adhered the ends together with double stick tape, then tied red baker's twine around them.

SO easy, SO cute!

HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY!!!!

    Absolutely adorable! I’m wondering how will you “cook” them? Fun idea!

      We have S’mores “cookers”, where we put the whole s’more inside and toast it. If we do it without them, we just unwrap the package on a plate, slip out the marshmallow and toast it, then put everything back together again!!!

  2. Where do you buy gingham wax paper?

    • simply {kierste} says:

      I got it at Michael’s at the end of last summer–it was with their patriotic tableware. I called it wax paper, but it didn’t come on a roll–it came in big squares. It’s kind of a cross between wax paper and parchment paper.

    I’ve never even heard of such a fun wax paper!! Where do you get it? Soooo cute!

    Have you ever printed on parchment paper? That might work, too! I tried to cut it once with my Silhouette digital cutter, but it won’t stick to the mat! If you have a cutter, you could also buy the cutest kit from SVG Cuts that has a Smores box in it. It’s called Camp Smore! I’m making some for my Cub Scout camping grandson as a take-home gift when he comes to visit.
