My husband is the true gardener in the family. He loves it so much, that it’s his first stop when he gets home from work…to check on the progress of the vegetables, and I think, to have a little conversation with them. ☺ I love having fresh fruits and vegetables, so I’m along for the ride!
Our yard isn’t as big as it was in Michigan, so we had to re-think our space just a little bit differently here. Our box garden fits perfectly on the side of our house,  and we planted some of our very favorites.

To help keep our garden growing and healthy, we were excited to try a product by Alaska–Alaska Fish Fertilizer 5-1-1.
{I love helpers in the garden!}

An all-purpose deodorized fish emulsion, Alaska Fish Fertilizer 5-1-1 can be used on all types of indoor and outdoor plants, and as an essential building block for healthy soil, it stimulates micro-organisms to build soil content. It doesn’t cause your plants to “burn” or become dried out to a point where plants are unable to recover.
It’s also super easy to use, and for someone who doesn’t have a natural green thumb, I appreciate that. For my garden (up to 25 square feet), I just added 2 T. of the liquid fertilizer to 1 gallon of water.  I mixed  it directly in my watering can, so I was immediately ready to use it!  Depending on how big of a space you have, and what you’re fertilizing, the amounts will differ, but there is any easy-to-read chart on the bottle which clearly indicates what you need to do.  I can use this fertilizer every couple of weeks during the growing season.

  1. I love summer and gardening! I got my area weeded and planted over the long weekend and I am so excited to see things starting to grow! My favorite things to eat are the tomatoes and cucumbers…This year I also planted lavender and I am very excited to see what I can do with it – maybe some pillow bags for guest, add to my sugar as well as my tea….

    Thanks for the fun giveaway and enjoy your garden!

    1. ooooh, I love tomatoes and cucumbers as well! Nothing beats them straight from the garden. I love your plans for lavendar….

  2. I have you in google reader…is that an rss feed?

    Anyways…we need to plant our garden still!!! Crazy cold Idaho weather. LOL! Maybe I’ll go out and weed the flower beds….it’s still too cold to plant!

    1. Yes, that’s a feed! You can either do that, or sign up to receive it via e-mail, so you’re all good!! We’re in Texas, so our planting season is ahead of the game. I would switch you for a little cold weather right now, though!!! xo

  3. Thanks for hosting this giveaway! I just planted my second little flower bed around one of the young trees on our lot here at the RV campground. That Fish Emulsion sounds like just the ticket to help the trees and flowers get going properly!
