Happy, happy Monday!! One of the BEST ways to start out a new week is with a giveaway, and today it's a Silhouette Portrait!!!

Hang on tight, more details will come at the end of the post! First let's talk about this month's fantastic Silhouette promo, featuring one of the products that I love the most--the Silhouette Studio Designer Edition Software. I can honestly tell you that it has made a huge difference for me when creating projects, and I couldn't live without it!

One of the biggest differences between the regular Silhouette software and the Designer Edition is also my most favorite--the built-in ruler and guidelines for precise alignment and sizing. Let me show you!

On the screenshot below, you can see I'm typing the letter C. Usually when I'm typing text, the dimensions are really important--I need them to fit in a certain space, both length and width. As you can see, there are dimensions surrounding the letter, and while the width is pretty accurate, you can see the height is not. There is a lot of blank space on the top and bottom of the c, so you can't really tell how tall it is just by that alone.

When you have the ruler and guidelines, it's easy to see the actual size of the letter, word, or phrase you're trying to work with. I moved the c over to the side, so you can see the ruler right next to it. I do this ALL the time!

I love being able to stack two words on top of each other, and knowing precisely how tall and wide they will be, so I know if they'll fit in my space. I REALLY LOVE the ruler--I don't think I could live without it now!

One of my other favorite things about the software is that it allows you to import .svg files. wHere's a side-by-side comparison of the two, so you can really see the differences...

Normally the cost of the software is $49.99, but during this promo it's only $24.99!!!  FANTASTIC deal, and worth every penny, in my humble opinion.  :) This is what's going on July 1st-10th...

  4. Well… I don’t use Bloglovin, so I can’t enter more than once, but thanks for the chance to at least get one entry! I just wish I could unlock the rest without signing up for some site I’ve never heard of :-/

Thanks for entering, and for reading! Bloglovin’ is a replacement for Google Reader, which is now shut down.

  5. Thank you for the chance to win!

  6. Kierste,
This doesn’t really have anything to do with the drawing for post other than it’s Silhouette related…I’ve been using a Cricut w/ a different software, but recently had to upgrade to a new computer, and can’t use the same software w/ Cricut anymore. Have you used the silhouette software w/ Windows 8? It says it’s compatible with Windows 7 and XP, so not sure if it will work, or if I need to wait for them to update their program? I hope this makes sense…any information you have, since you’re the pro, would be helpful!
