Date Night is a pretty important night at our house, and one that’s lived by religously. I look forward to it all week long, especially on those days when things are crazier than normal!  Our very favorite dates are when we get outside and go on a run together, play racquetball or tennis, go kayaking, bowling, hiking, biking, rollerblading, or anything active.  We also love to just stay home in our pajamas, get takeout, and watch a good movie.

No matter what we do, the one thing that all of our dates have in common is that there is a yummy treat involved. ☺

This past weekend we had the chance to go running together, and we went to one of our favorite spots.  It’s a Waterway that runs through the town, with shops and restaurants lining the tree-lined riverwalk.  It’s gorgeous, and the perfect place to enjoy the weather and fresh air.  Afterward, we stopped by the store and picked up our new favorite treat, Breyers Gelato Indulgences.  It’s the perfect ending to any date night…just add two spoons!

We took our yummy gelato, found a beautiful spot by the lake, and soaked in our surroundings. It was HEAVEN!!!

My very favorite of the Breyers Gelato Indulgences is the Raspberry Cheesecake. It features creamy cheesecake gelato topped with luscious raspberry sauce and a gourmet graham crumble. It’s SO delicious. Like, seriously good.  My handsome date really likes it too…two spoons are essential if I want to get a bite!

My very close second favorite is the Vanilla Caramel, which has a rich caramel sauce and these delightful caramelly curls along with the vanilla gelato. I don’t think I’ve tasted something so creamy in a very long time!  Last week we had an impromptu date at home in the middle of the week, and the Vanilla Caramel had a starring role while we watched the season finales of some of our favorite shows.

How fun would it be to have invite a few couples over for a game night, and serve gelato for dessert??!!  YUM!!!

I’d love to hear about how you would incorporate Breyers Gelato Indulgences into your date night!  What are some of your favorite date nights? I can’t wait to hear!

  1. Hi Kierste!
Love your blog and all the great inspiration you provide. One thing I am especially looking for some inspiration and ideas for … is how to handle the shoes!!! Seriously, there are 5 of us and the shoes all get taken off in the back hallway and then we all trip all over them! How do you handle the shoes with a family of 8???? Would love any and all tips!
    Thanks!

    1. Oh, yes…the SHOES!!! Lol. I’m kind of a nazi, lol, so don’t laugh. :) We have a narrow back hallway as well, that comes in from the garage, which is how we enter and exit most of the time. They all take their shoes off at the door, then they carry them around the corner to the front entry bench, that has baskets underneath. Each child has their own basket, just for their own shoes. Here’s a link to a post that shows them: http://simplykierste.com/2013/04/simple-diy-numbered-labels.html

I also have shelves right outside the garage door for shoes that are really wet or muddy, and can’t come in quite yet.

If you can find a space for individual baskets, or even one large, durable wire basket, it will make a huge difference. You could even build it up, rather than side-to-side–like wooden shelves that go from floor to ceiling with a basket for each person on each shelf. It could be inside, or even right outside the door, depending on your space. I found an awesome wire basket at The Container Store for around $25 that’s super durable, and a great size–I keep it by the front door for guests’ shoes—and it’s big enough for lots of shoes.

      GOOD LUCK!!!

  2. You are a rock star! I had 3 plastic bins in different colors from Target a couple of years ago – rounded them up and put them in the back hall and separated the kids’ shoes – love it!!!!! Thank you so much!

  3. My hubby and I love date night! We usually go out for a nice, casual dinner, and then shopping. I know that sounds weird, but we both love shopping. He even likes Hobby Lobby….score!! Love the new Breyers Gelato Double Chocolate….super delicious!!
