Oh my goodness, the snow.  The salt.  The mud.  The wet. The drippy.  All of which I do not want brought into my house this winter!   With no mudroom in our little apartment, I decided that we needed a shoe shelf just outside our front door, so all boots could be deposited there before coming inside.  I had just been sent a Rockwell Bladerunner X2 Portable Tabletop Saw to try, and knew it would be the perfect first project!

Who knew that something as simple as a shoe shelf could make me so happy? :)  It was such an easy project too. We screwed 2×4’s (two on each level)  into 1 inch pine boards (for the sides)–to make three shelves– and then added the closet shelving for the boots to sit on top of after I painted the whole thing white. I chose the closet shelving because it can easily be cleaned and wiped off, and slats are close enough together for even the smallest of boots and shoes.  It’s durable, and it looks nice.

And guess what?  We were able to cut everything on the Bladerunner, even the plastic-coated wire closet shelving! How awesome is that?

The Bladerunner is pretty nifty–it cuts wood, metal, tile, aluminum AND plastic!  You can use it in a variety of ways, and this one saw can replace several. It’s lightweight…weighing in under 15 pounds, so it’s to easy to move around and transfer as needed.

  1. This is so cool! I don’t need boot storage for snow/mud covered shoes since I’m in theValley of the Sun, but I love the idea!
And the saws is pretty amaing too! iVe been looking for eps replacement/alternative to my old scroll saw that’s been buried in the back of the cabinet in my garage for over 12 years. I will need to go ad up on on this the ba b some more. Thanks!

  2. So the white boots on the top left are those the girls’ boots? What brand are they? Soooo cute

  3. I love this shoe shelf, this would be a plus in my home. Boys and dogs track a lot of dirt and mud in my house and I really could use this in my home. I have been reading up on this saw and it seems amazing and how it can make curved cuts is like a scroll saw.
