Making a lemonade stand has been on my list...pretty much forever. The last few years we've been so transient that it wasn't really an option--with no where to store it and moves coming up. Even though all of our things are in storage right now, we did keep out the chop saw so that we would be able to build things for our new house. With summer parties and entertaining on the horizon, I decided it was time for a lemonade stand. I'm calling it a lemonade stand just because I'm not sure what else to call it, and also because it makes it sound cuter, but it will mostly be used as a outside serving station. I added a few features, including a reversible chalkboard sign, and decided on a color that will make it perfect for all of my outdoor entertaining!!
We moved away from our family and home state when we left for graduate school, and since then we've lived in four different states and gathered dear friends in every place we've been. We love LOVE when we have guests, and when our friends and family come to visit. It's always so wonderful to get to spend time with them, and show them "our town". I seriously can't wait for our house to be finished, so we can start having guests again!
We are pretty casual when it comes to breakfast, and even when guests come, we mostly stick to hot/cold cereal, fruit, yogurt, and juice. It's always fun serving an extra yummy breakfast during the visit, and we'll save it for a morning when we have plenty of time to enjoy it. Summer travel brings with it more opportunities for guests, so I gathered up some of the most mouth-watering breakfast recipes I could find. Many of them are also easy and quick to put together, which with their delicious factor, make for a winning combination!
I know many of you are looking forward to this weekend's Super Bowl, and getting together with family and friends to watch the game, eat, and hang out. However, I am looking forward to this weekend for a completely separate and superior reason...my husband will be home from a two week international trip. I think a massage is calling my name, and probably a pedicure too. We are all so ready to have him home! That said, we are a football family, and love watching games together. Of course snacks and food are involved, and I'm all about simple . One of my kids' favorite snacks is popcorn, and it's a popular and fun thing to munch on during a game. In my quest to come up with something cute for the popcorn to go in, I made (seriously) the easiest and most adorable football paper sacks to hold popcorn and snacks.
I bought my first punch bowl very early on in life. As a piano teacher, I felt it quite necessary to have punch and cookies after each recital, and a girl can't be without a punch bowl! Now I use a drink dispenser, but I still have my punch bowl! This particular recipe is my go-to punch, and it's the easiest sparkling punch around. It only has two basic ingredients, so it's also so quick to put together, which I love. You can also easily change flavors to match a theme, season, or holiday, and I've made many different kinds. The kind I love for Christmas and the holidays is what I call...Sparkling Cranberry Punch! Its delightful red color with cranberries with floating on top is perfect for any holiday table!
I have always wanted really cute Christmas plates, but whenever I saw any I liked, I couldn't bring myself to pay for them. So...I decided to make my own! And get this...not only are the SO easy, they only cost $1 each!
Burlap Bags are not only totally adorable for gift-giving, but they work perfectly as place cards and tableware holders too!
I wanted something simple but elegant for our Thanksgiving table this year, and these Burlap Bags were just the thing! Not only can I use them as place cards, but as tableware holders as well! I love the practicality and easiness.
So...I'm in moving mode, as you can probably tell from my last few posts. This blog mirrors my life, and since we're knee deep in trying to sell our house and move across the country, a lot of my energy has been focused in that direction. This past weekend we had the first open house after putting our home up for sale, and I always like to leave a little something for anyone that comes through. Bottled water is perfect to beat the heat, and together with a little chocolate, it will hopefully help them remember us! ☺ I made some cutey cute bottled water printable tags that add just the right touch!
Summer is almost here, and yummy, cold drinks are perfect to beat the heat. Sweet Lemon Water is one of my favorites, and my go-to drink to serve at any BBQ, party, or gathering. It's incredibly simple to put together, refreshingly light, and absolutely delicious!
We LOVE having guests come, and we've been lucky to have quite a few people visit this past year. As part of their welcome, I like to leave them a Guest Welcome Basket in their room, on the bed, so they'll see it right away. It lets them know how glad we are that they are with us, and gives them a few comfort items for their "home away from home". If you're having holiday guests this year, consider putting together your own Guest Welcome Basket!
In addition to the in-store Michael's Pinterest party last weekend (and it was SO fun), I threw a Pinterest Party at my house this week for some of my friends, and we had a FABULOUS time! I love the idea of getting together with friends for a party to create some of the things that you see on Pinterest...to not just pin, but make it! I, of course, am a huge advocate for DIY projects, so this is exciting to me. Plus...it's so much more fun to craft and create with friends! For my party, I went with a DIY gift theme, and decided on one of my favorite gifts to give, with a Christmas spin...a Christmas Mason Jar Gift Set!
Hello! It's Michelle From Chalkboardblue! I wanted to share with you a darling Broomstick Cupcake Topper tutorial! I love to make cupcake toppers-- I think they add so much fun to Parties, Holidays and Cupcakes in general!
I made some Witches Broomsticks and "Parking" signs out of some supplies I had around the house.
My salt & pepper shakers bit the dust a few months ago, and after looking and looking, I couldn't find anything I loved. The ones that I had looked just like mason jars, and I loved them, so I decided to make my own! Talk about EASY...this just might be the easiest project ever! It only took a few supplies and about 10 minutes to make the most adorable Mason Jar Salt & Pepper Shakers!
It was my girls' birthday this weekend, and we had such a blast celebrating! They wanted a pink cake, which was a pretty easy request considering what they've asked for in past years. I made a simple pink cake, and when it was time for the candles, it just seemed like it needed something more. I was getting out some striped straws for our hot chocolate, when I had an idea...
