Caramel Pecan Sauce

Caramel Pecan Sauce | simplykierste.com

You guys.  Do you want to experience a little bit of heaven?  You must try this decadent Caramel Pecan Sauce, you won't be sorry! Confession. This sauce doesn't always make it "on top" of anything, except my spoon.  It's THAT good. Rich, buttery, with the toasty crunch of the nuts...divine! One of my biggest temptations is anything caramel, and I have to say, this is one of my most favorite things.  EVER.  If you don't like nuts, or someone in your family can't have them, you can certainly omit them. The caramel is good enough to stand alone.  I do love the nuts, though, so I always add them.   And talk about easy...you make it in the microwave! Pour it over ice cream.  Get really … [Read more...]

DIY Recipe Binder with FREE Printables!

DIY Recipe Binder | Free Printables | simplykierste.com

About ten years ago, I went through my stacks of cookbooks, and file of saved recipes I had printed or had received from others.   I took out all of our favorites, typed them up, slid them into sheet protectors, and put them into a binder. That Recipe Binder changed my life.  Yes, I know that sounds dramatic, but it's true.  It saved me so much time and effort when it came to cooking and menu planning, and at the same time streamlined and organized all of my recipes. The idea of a recipe binder is nothing new, and it's been around for a long time, but that says something right there...it's still around because it WORKS!  I've had to change binders a few times over the years, and just this … [Read more...]

Picture ABC Books

picture abc books | simplykierste.com

One of my absolute favorite things to make for my kids is Picture ABC Books. I make them each their very own book, and it is most definitely a treasured possession. In their book, each letter of the alphabet is represented by a picture of them or someone in our family, so it's not a only a great way to reinforce the ABC's, but  also an adorable little mini memory book.  This month is my twin boys' birthday, and it's their turn for this very special gift! My kids LOVE to see themselves in pictures. We snuggle up on the couch or in their bed at night, and it doesn't matter how many times they've seen the pictures, they always ask me a million questions---what, why, where.  It's a piece of … [Read more...]
