Apple Mason Jar Teacher Gift | simplykierste.com

Apple mason jar teacher gift

Today is our first day of school!  I feel like the summer went way too fast, and we just didn't have enough time to do all the things we wanted to do. And...my twin boys are starting kindergarten, and I'm crying my eyes out. For reals. Their time at home goes so quickly--I'm never ready for it to be over.   I'm excited for them and their new adventures, but I have to admit, it's hard for me.  So bittersweet.

Between my tears (I'm kind of joking), I'm going to share our teacher gifts that have been safely delivered to the school this morning. Our fun tradition teacher gift for the first of the year is to give an apple--in some form.  Some years it's been a caramel apple, and other years it's been apple soap. This year I decided on these darling apple mason jars full of pencils--perfect for a teacher's desk!

DIY notebook paper treat bags

I was at Target (of course) and saw the cutest notebook paper treat bags. I immediately thought how fun they would be for all things school, and at first thought I would buy up a bunch to keep for throughout the year. But I would have to spend a fortune to do it, and I didn't really want to do that. Then I remembered I already had some plain white treat bags at home, and realized it would be super easy for me to make my own DIY version, anytime I needed them!

Easy peasy lemon squeeze...fun printable gift tag | simplykierste.com

Easy peasy lemon squeezy: “you can do it” gift tag

Four years ago I ran my first marathon.  It was one of the most challenging and most rewarding things I've ever done.  Nine months before that, my second set of twins were almost a year old, and I really wanted to get back in shape. My best friend asked me if I wanted to do a half marathon, and I actually laughed!  I've always played sports, but pretty much had the mentality that there was no reason to run unless you were chasing a ball. :)  I decided to take her up on it, and in ten weeks, I ran my first half marathon.  Then the crazy idea to run a marathon became a reality just six months later.  In nine months I went from running a couple of miles to running a full marathon, and while I'm not the fastest girl out there, I did discover what I can do when I make a goal and work hard.  I absolutely know that I couldn't have done it without the support of my family, without my best friend (some of our long runs will forever be a part of my fondest memories), or without my closest friends cheering me on.

The day of the race, one of those wonderful friends gave us the cutest gift. I was feeling so nervous, and just that small and simple gesture gave me a boost that I so appreciated. Yes, it was kind of cheesy, but I loved it, and now when I want to cheer someone on, give them a little boost, and remind them that "you can do it", this is a gift I love to give.

An easy way to create circular text in Photoshop Elements | simplykierste.com

An easy way to create circular text in Photoshop Elements

I love making cute customized tags and stickers for different projects and gifts, and I've used Photoshop Elements (referred to as PSE from here on out) for many years to do just that. It's also a great photo editor, but even though I use different software for editing photos, I still love PSE for creating printables.  It's a pretty reasonable cost (affiliate link--you can download it on Amazon for $69), and there is just so much you can do with it! I love it, and use it often. I think it's one of the best values you can get for your money!

One of favorite things to do is to create circular text around the outside of my tag or sticker. I think it's SO cute!  It looks hard, but it really is so easy! In just a few steps, you can make your own text circle, and I'm going to show you how! Here's the one I whipped up for this example...it literally took me less than 10 minutes!  I'm currently using the most recent version of PSE, but I've used this technique for a long time, on much older versions--I think as far back as PSE 5 or 6--so hopefully if you have an older version you will be able to as well!

Hello! It's Jes from Mommy Envy and I'm back and sharing this easy DIY ampersand sign tutorial with you! Lately I've been obsessed with black and white home decor. I love how classy it looks. Black and white can be rustic, modern, or just about anything you want it to be!

DIY Ampersand sign tutorial

This sign came together really nicely and I was surprise how easy it was. I am in a couple Facebook groups of people who share their vinyl projects. I joined them to get ideas but it has been a motivator to use my machine more. Here's my step by step tutorial on making this wooden sign.

Teacher Gift Card Holder | FREE printable | simplykierste.com

Easy & adorable teacher gift card holder

I've done a lot of different things for my kids' teachers over the years, but no matter what I give, I almost always tuck in a gift card.  Whether it's to Target, Staples, or even our local education store, I know that's what teachers want...and need.  I'm still amazed and so appreciative of how much of their own money they spend on their kids and classrooms, and it's my hope to help just a little by showing my gratitude with a gift card.

I created a super cute {free} teacher gift card holder that's perfect for any gift card! You can get it from any store, for any amount, and tuck it right inside for the fabulous teacher(s) in your child's life.  Yes, they hit the mark this year!!!

DIY personalized notepaper | Perfect for Mother's Day, teacher gifts, and more! |simplykierste.com

DIY personalized notepaper

With Mother's Day coming up, and the end of school on the horizon, gifts for mom and teacher gifts are definitely on the mind.  I've got a really fun solution for you--for both of them! More than ten years ago, we made my mom personalized notepaper for Mother's Day.  It was a huge hit, and from that point on, it has been highly requested time and time again.  It is one of my favorite gifts to give for so many occasions and people--it makes an awesome teacher gift and it's perfect for Mother's Day, Father's Day, birthdays, and even wedding and hostess gifts.  My sister served as a missionary for our church several years ago, and we made a set for her for one of her birthdays while she was gone.  It's just so fun to make and give!
