I made this footprint stool four years ago, not too long into my blogging career.  To this day, it has remained one of my most popular posts, and I have to say, it's one of my favorites too.  I decided to update the post for a couple of reasons, but it was definitely time for better pictures.  ☺ It's amazing what you learn in four years!  I also wanted to share it with my newer readers, especially with Mother's Day coming up. I absolutely love this stool, and now that I've had another baby, I'm trying to figure out how to fit another footprint on there! I had a wooden stool that had been a staple in our house for years, but it was needing a little face lift. I thought of all the little … [Read more...]

DIY Ruler Growth Chart | simplykierste.com

I'm in charge of the Super Saturday at our church this year, which is a big group of ladies getting together to make really fun crafts and projects. It's so fun for me, because it's two of my passions together---creating and talking.  ☺  One of the things I wanted to do this year was make a Ruler Growth Chart. LOVE them!! I've planned many of these, and when it comes to choosing projects for Super Saturday or any craft group, there are several things that I always consider: 1.  It can be totally completed in the time frame we have (what's worse than going home with unfinished projects that are just going to sit in your closet???) 2.  It's appropriate for all skill levels.  Not that … [Read more...]

I'm so lucky to work in Primary, which is with our church's young children, ages 3-11.  Today I'm sharing a fun birthday tag--I made them for our birthday gifts this year, and thought I would pass them along in case someone else can use them! and for the teachers... I created a PDF file that's a full sheet of the tags--just print on white or cream cardstock, cut out, punch a hole in one corner, and tie it on! favorite family games | simplykierste.com

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas!  We're excited now to have a break from school, and my husband is home from work, which means it's time to PARTY!  ☺  Our family loves games, and this break is the perfect time to play some of our favorite family games. I'm going to share our favorites list with you today! These are tried and true--we've played them a million times, with five of our kids plus others, and they are ones we love, and play again and again. The ones I'm highlighting are most appropriate for ages 4-8.  Four of our children are in this age range (2 four year olds and 2 seven year olds), so we play a lot of games that work for this range. Did you get gift cards this year … [Read more...]

snowman soup | simplykierste.com

One of my favorite Christmas gift ideas is Snowman Soup! It's so darling, easy to put together, and perfect for neighbors, teachers, friends, co-workers, and more! What is snowman soup you ask?   Ingredients include a packet of hot chocolate, two mini candy canes, and a little bag of mini marshmallows!  I use a snack bag with the ziploc part cut off for the marshmallows, with a piece of bakers twine to tie it shut. You can package them for individual gifts, or larger for family or office gifts.  For this post I created individual snowman soup packages, using white cookie bags I bought at Michaels.  They are the perfect size for one serving!  I printed the tag on to cream cardstock (you … [Read more...]

This post was sponsored by Michael's.  All opinions are 100% mine and mine alone. ----- In addition to the in-store Michael's Pinterest party last weekend (and it was SO fun), I threw a Pinterest Party at my house this week for some of my friends, and we had a FABULOUS time!  I love the idea of getting together with friends for a party to create some of the things that you see on Pinterest...to not just pin, but make it! I, of course, am a huge advocate for DIY projects, so this is exciting to me. Plus...it's so much more fun to craft and create with friends!  For my party, I went with a DIY gift theme, and decided on one of my favorite gifts to give, with a Christmas spin...a Christmas … [Read more...]
