Easy painted flag window

Painted Flag Window |

I've been in withdrawals over the last year. Since we moved to New York, all of our things have been in storage while we build our house, including my collection of old windows.  I haven't ad a chance to go looking for more, so when a friend very kindly gave me a few of hers, I knew exactly what I wanted to do with one of them.  Making  a painted flag window has been on my list forever, and I want to use it not only for holiday decor, but on a regular basis in my home.  Not sure where yet...but somewhere!  It was super easy to do, and I LOVE it! I'm already trying to figure out where I'm going to permanently put it in our house, but for now, it will be perfect for my patriotic decor … [Read more...]

Raspberry Pretzel Bars

Raspberry Pretzel Bars |

Raspberry Pretzel Bars are one of my favorite things on earth.  How can you beat a buttery, pretzel-y crust, smothered in a scrumptious cream cheese center, and topped with raspberries and raspberry Jell-O?  You really can't.  Plus, it's red and white, which makes it very appropriate for 4th of July and patriotic festivities! I'm really sentimental about this recipe.  One of my closest friends gave me this recipe, and it's one that she often brought over (that I begged her to make) to our BBQs and picnics. I miss her like crazy, and I love thinking of her every time I make this. These are REALLY easy to make, but it's a process.  Each layer needs to be refrigerated before adding the next … [Read more...]

Stars & Stripes Oreos

Stars & Stripes Oreos |

A couple of years ago I made these super cute Stars & Stripes Oreos for the 4th of July, and they are now a family (and friends) favorite! They're so easy to make, and perfect for any patriotic party, BBQ or get together!!! These are also really fun for kids to help with--mine loved the chocolate dipping and then drawing on the stars and stripes. It makes a great afternoon activity! {SUPPLIES} -candy melts:  red, white, blue -Oreos {DIRECTIONS} 1.  Melt the white candy melts according to the package directions.  You can use white chocolate chips too--just melt them in a glass bowl in the microwave in 30 second intervals, stirring in between, until they're melted enough to stir … [Read more...]

I am seriously obsessed with frosted sugar cookies.  And let's face it...the whole purpose for the cookie is as a vehicle of the frosting.  ☺ I made these adorable Patriotic Sugar Cookie Cups, and the whole middle is filled with yummy goodness!  Add a few sprinkles on top, and it becomes the perfect 4th of July dessert for any BBQ or get together this summer.  You aren't going to believe how easy they are to make--less than 20 minutes--and they are absolutely delicious! I just love these cookie cups! Aren't they adorable? You could easily change the sprinkles to match any holiday or party theme--Christmas, Halloween, Valentine's Day...SO cute! Patriotic Popcorn Lollipops

popcorn lollipops |

These darling Patriotic Popcorn Lollipops are perfect for Memorial Day,  summertime, and for the 4th of July! They are super kid-friendly, fast and easy to make, and look darling!  Serve these at your 4th of July BBQ, and they will be a sure-fire hit! My favorite way to make popcorn balls is with marshmallows--the same way you make Rice Krispie treats, but with popcorn.  Melt the butter, add the marshmallows, and heat over a medium high heat, stirring constantly, until it's nice and smooth.  Pour it over the popcorn, stir with a wooden spoon until all the popcorn is covered.  I let it rest for a few minutes, to let the marshmallow cool and harden a little, which makes it easier to … [Read more...]

s'mores |

We are a campfire fact, a fire pit was one of the very first things we built when we moved in to our new house last summer. And where there is a campfire, there are s'mores!  We have had them lots of different ways, but the good old fashioned s'more is still our favorite.  We're having a BBQ tonight with early Memorial Day celebration, and guess what's on the menu??!! Sometimes you just want a fun and simple way to make something extra special for a party or gathering, and that's what I was feeling today with the s'mores.  I also wanted to make it easier for everyone (and myself) when it came time to putting them together--and lessen the impatience of my … [Read more...]
