Winter at Old Salt Farm | Winter Home Tour

I really love winter–yes, the snow too! It’s the coziest time of year, and with the snow blanketing the ground and trees it’s absolutely beautiful. I also make a few decor changes for winter, and I keep it very simple, like I do all my decor. After Christmas, I prefer to go more neutral, and give pops of color with greenery and even fresh flowers.  I’m always thrilled when I walk into our local grocery store and see fresh tulips in varying colors–I get a bunch every week and they give the perfect pop of life and color.  I share a lot of photos of our home on my Instagram feeds (Old Salt Farm and Simply Kierste Design Co.), and I thought it would be fun to post a mini winter home tour here of Winter at Old Salt Farm!

This is the view from my front door during a snowfall—it doesn’t quite do it justice, but it’s stunning!

A simple vase of flowers is what I use on my island, and sometimes greenery, if I don’t have any fresh flowers. We use the island a lot during the day, so I keep decor really minimal, and easy to move! I spend a lot of time in the kitchen, and it’s definitely one of my favorite spaces, in the winter and all year long.

We are finishing our basement right now, so we brought up a bunch of the kids’ toys to keep upstairs so they could play with them.  My 4 year old’s kitchen is in my kitchen, and she loves it…we might even keep it here!

I added three (sometimes four) white pitchers to the center of my dining table on a french grain stripe runner, and I adore the farmhouse simplicity. When I have tulips, I’ll add them to the center pitcher, otherwise they’re empty. Either way, I love them!

My kids tease me all the time about how many pillows I have, and it’s true, I’m kind of obsessed. In the winter, I go back and forth between black buffalo check/plaid, and totally neutral.

Olive stems in vases are the perfect touch of greenery!

I bought this wreath at Christmastime, but it’s perfect for winter too. I might even leave it up for spring!

We have SO MANY deer in our woods, and at 5:30pm sharp (and at lunchtime too), they congregate on our lawn when it’s green and the snow is melting for their meal.  It makes my husband so mad, but my 4 year old always tells him “they’re just hungry, daddy, and we stole their home!”.
