All about me: annual interview questions for kids

I take a lot of pictures of my kids. And I mean A LOT.  I always have a camera with me, and I was super happy when the smartphone came along, so then I had a phone AND a camera all-in-one!  My kids know that no matter the occasion, no matter we go, pictures are going to happen  It’s just how it is.  But what I love just as much as photos are their little words–the funny things they say, what they think about, and how they view the world.  Years ago, I started doing an annual interview with my kids, and it’s seriously my favorite thing EVER.  At first it was on paper only, but now I do video too.  We have a family blog that I update regularly and get printed every year, so I keep it in print in our blog book, and then I have the digital version as well.  I do the interviews on their birthdays, but the beginning of each year is a really great time too!

I like to ask the same questions from year-to-year for the most part, because the comparison is just too fun. I will add new ones in occasionally, but then I’ll just keep them on the list for every year after that.  Personally, I don’t like to have too many questions, because my kids usually start to lose interest after awhile, and I can tell after a certain amount of questions, they’re ready to go and play–especially the younger ones. I do like to ask follow-up questions, depending on what they say,  and that has provided some of the funniest and most endearing answers.

I created this fun printable that, and you can either use it as a question guide, or print it out to write on.  If you do write on it, you can always scan it in to your computer after it’s finished, then upload it to a blog as a picture.  It would also be fun to have a book just for these interviews–perhaps a binder, divided into sections by child, or by year. Slide the pages into page protectors, and then you’ve got a really fun book that all of you will love to look back at!

Here are a few of my favorite snippets from my girls (now 8)–it seriously cracks me up!
