As a busy mom, simple ideas that are super cute, but don’t take a lot of time to put together are my very favorite, and this project is exactly that!  I love giving gifts to friends, neighbors, and other people that touch my life or my family’s life in some way.  Sometimes I just want to say hello or brighten someone’s day, and other times I want to help celebrate a birthday, new home, or another equally exciting event.  Perhaps it’s “just because”, or to give to a hostess for inviting me into her home.  No matter what the occasion, this darling Dishtowel Gift Idea is one of my very favorites!

I mean seriously, could you just die?  LOVE!! I think everyone loves something pretty for their kitchen! Plus, when it’s pretty and functional, that’s the best combination!

I found these adorable gingham dishtowels at Walmart and it was love at first sight. I’m kind of crazy about gingham, and these are the perfect colors!  I snatched them up, and decided to create some cute tags to go with them for gifts. I actually print out a bunch at a time, and keep them in a small tupperware just for printables.  I like to keep tags for different occasions on hand, ready to go, so at a moment’s notice, I can put together a gift.

P.S.  If you don’t live a Walmart, no worries! I ordered two sets online, and the shipping was FREE!

All you need a this cute tag and bit of twine, and you’ve got the cutest gift ever, for so many occasions and so many reasons! You can use any dishtowels you like, but if you don’t know the recipient’s kitchen colors or style, flour sack dishtowels  are a good choice. They’re actually my most favorite, and I always have a huge stack in my kitchen! Crisp white, a generous size, and great absorbency are just a few things I love about them.

SUPPLIES:

*If the dishtowels I used are out of stock, keep checking back. I’ve seen them in stores for several years now, so there’s a chance they will.  I also found a couple of other options…

DIRECTIONS:

Download the tags and print on to the kraft card stock.  You can certainly use white or cream instead, if that’s what you have, but it might be worth investing in a package of the kraft to just keep on hand.  I love it on so many projects, and it’s great for tags!

Cut out the tags, punch a hole at the top, then use the jute, twine, or ribbon to tie it onto each dishtowel.

This is SO fast, and SO easy.  It literally took me less than 10 minutes to print the tags, cut them out, and tie them on the four dishtowels.  It was actually closer to 5 minutes!

  3. Hi Kieste, The flour sacks from Amazon and the Kraftstock showed up so I have begun. The flour sacks are great for those who know how great they are, but I will use the gingham for others as they are a cuter gift. I wish I could make your tags a bit bigger but I can’t figure out how to, so the small ones will suffice. Once the gingham towels arrive I plan to make all 20 of them so they are ready to go. Thanks for the idea. I need little gifts/perks like this frequently and they fit the bill! I just wish I could figure out how to make those tags bigger–yours look larger in your photo, or did you fold your towels up really small? Sorry, you were so sweet to share this idea and I hate to be a pain….:)

    1. Hello! Yes, the flour sacks are plainer, but they’re awesome! :) I love the gingham ones too–they’re definitely a cuter presentation. Smart of you to get them all ready to go!! I did roll mine towels up small, so they’re easier to give. They come folded in thirds, and I left them that way, then rolled them up and tied the tag on. I made the tag to fit them that way. The file is a PDF, so you can’d adjust the size, but I can email you the tag if you like, and you can adjust it how you want to! It’s on its way! :)

  4. You must have read my mind, I was just thinking about making a little gift for all of our new neighbors. Thanks so much for the cute idea! Now I’m off to go buy some towels…

  5. How cute. I just bought these today and used one to line a basket that I filled with goodies for a friend who is in need of a little love. I am putting the rest of them in my stash. They are so classic and cheerful.

  6. These would be cute with a bottle of Mrs. Meyers or some other fancy dish soap tied in the mix. Thanks for sharing.

  7. Cute idea! those are out of stock but Amazon has several options though not the large buffalo check thatI could find.
