Farmhouse Basement Family Room Game Area

Even before starting the plans to finish our basement, I knew I wanted a family room area with a large game table. Our family loves to play games, and having a space where we could go down and play together was at the top of my list.  Fast forward to June, and our basement was finally finished, so I went on the hunt for the perfect game table, and I found it!  I’m so thrilled about our farmhouse basement family room and game area, it’s one step closer to being complete.

Sunday is our family day, and this area is one of our favorite places to spend time. We hang out, play games, sing karaoke, and watch a movie in the theater.  Having a relaxing place to spend time as a family has always been so important to us, and this project has brought us even closer to that goal!

We lucked out, and only had one pole in the basement we had to work around, but it also happened to define the perfect spot for a game table.  I knew I wanted benches, because chairs would take up too much room, plus you can fit more people around with them.

My kids love to have friends over to play games, and since they’re smaller, with benches we can squeeze a bunch more in!  If I had more space, I would add chairs at each end of the table for even more sitting room!

This darling table and benches set is by Better Homes & Gardens at Walmart, and I was seriously so excited when I found it. It’s actually a dining set, so it can definitely be used for more than one purpose!

It’s perfect for my farmhouse style, and it’s SO sturdy and high quality.  It’s not pressed board–it’s solid wood construction.  We were really impressed when we took it out of the box and starting putting it together.  I love the simple, straight lines, and I love it even more in person.  A few of the pictures online made it look like it had kind of an orange-ish tint, but it doesn’t at all. It’s a true brown, with a rustic feel to it.

And see that darling farmhouse clock?  I love the mix of galvanized metal and faux wood planks, and it’s super affordable. It added the perfect touch!

I love to find favorite pieces that are not only functional, but add style to the room. We can’t wait to use our new game table in our farmhouse basement family room!
