Favorite Chalkboard Fonts + How to Make Your Own Chalkboard Printables
I jumped on the chalkboard bandwagon wholeheartedly, and I hope it’s around for a long time to come! I love creating chalkboard printables, and the key ingredient is…the fonts! If you love the chalkboard look too, I’ve got my favorite chalkboard fonts for you today! I create all of my printables in Photoshop (you can use Elements too), but if you don’t have it or know how to use it, I’m also going to show you how easy it is to do in PicMonkey–a free online photo editor.

Now, as I said earlier, there is a SUPER easy way to create chalkboard printables if you don’t have access to Photoshop CS or Photoshop Elements. Like SO SO easy. You won’t have access to all of the fonts I listed above, only the ones that PicMonkey has, but there are many that are super cute and will work perfectly for chalkboard printables. I’ve even made a list below that you can use as a reference. To get started…
Go to PicMonkey.com, and select “edit photo” at the top of the page. Select the chalkboard jpg you saved from above, and it will open up on your screen. If you need to do any re-sizing, now is the time to do it, using the crop or resizing button you’ll see on the left.
Select the “T” icon on the left, and a whole list of fonts will be listed there. Some of my favorite fonts to use for chalkboard printable in Picasa are: Marcelle Script, Stroke Dimension, Sketch Block, Stampete, Base 05, Ostrich Sans Online, Jellyka Delicious Cake, Amatic Small Caps, Special Elite, Eraser Dust, Levitee.
Use the Text tool to select the white color (#ffffff), change the text size, and anything else you like!
Once you’re finished, SAVE YOUR WORK IMMEDIATELY. Once you close PicMonkey, it will be gone, and you would have to create it all over again. You can leave your browser open, and it will still be there, but I always save it before leaving, just in case.
You can totally do it! It’s fun just to play around with it, and see what you can some up with.
