One of our favorite family Valentine traditions is a Heart Bunting Valentine Countdown!
I love, love, LOVE Valentine’s Day! I love it so much more now that I have kids, because of all the fun things you can do leading up to it to celebrate. We love to countdown to the big day by doing something “Valentine-y” each day, starting on February 1st. They are mostly simple activities, with one or two larger ones on the weekend, but whether it’s cookies or coloring hearts, my kids love it!
I cut out two sizes of hearts, and using double stick tape, attached the smaller one to the larger one. I typed up different activities for us to do each day, printed them, and cut them into strips, then taped one on to the back of each heart. I sprayed some mini clothespins red, and used those to attach the hearts to a long piece of twine. This year it’s on our banister, because our mantel is a little smaller than then one in our previous house, which is where it was when I first made it. I love it here too (if I can get my 4 year old boys to stop touching it, lol), and we all can’t wait until February 1st to start! Until then, it makes darling Valentine’s Day decor!
Here are a few of the activities we’re planning to do:
♥ Valentine Bingo
♥ “Heart Attack” friends and leave yummy treats
♥ Make & decorate Valentine cookies
♥ Make heart snowflakes
♥ Read a Valentine story
♥ Watch a fun Valentine show
♥ Make pink hot chocolate
♥ Make a Valentine chain
It really is so fun to do, and is a wonderful way to spend time together as a family. We love it!
