Old Salt Farm Christmas Home Tour 2017

Happy Christmas!  This is my favorite time of year, and snuggling up on the couch with my kids with a fire going and the Christmas tree lights on is one of my absolute favorite things ever.  I love every bit of Christmas, including the decorating! Over the years I’ve used less and less of my decorations, and taken a more simple approach, and I love it best.  Adding touches of greenery is one of my favorite ways to add a little Christmas to my home, both inside and out, and it’s so easy to do. I also adore the color red, and since I’m usually more neutral during the rest of the year, I take full advantage of red during the holidays.  Gingham, ticking, and grain stripe are my go-to patterns, and they are perfect for Christmas pillows.  Toss in a few cozy throws, and my decorating is complete.  I wasn’t able to get my bedroom done this year…but it’s on the list for next year! I’m excited to give you a peek into our home, for the Old Salt Farm Christmas Home Tour 2017–welcome!

Just some simple greenery adorns the front porch, and I think it’s perfect. The greens really pops against the white snow and house.  I love it!

Fresh green wreaths are also the perfect thing for the barn doors in the entryway…

The music room is to the left as soon as you walk in the front door, and a little plaid throw does wonders for the whole space!

This little space is to the left of the stairs, and leads to the family room. You can also go to the right around the stairs into the dining room and kitchen, and it also leads to the family room, which is directly behind the stairs.

The dining room and kitchen are a couple of my favorite spaces, and definitely the heart of our home. I love the cozy, homey feel, which is what I equate with Christmastime.

I adore the wreaths over the sink in the kitchen, but I actually ended up taking one down, and putting the other one in the middle. During the winter we get a lot less light, and the two wreaths blocked the sun we were getting.  I love it both ways!

One of my kids’ favorite spots in the kitchen is our small hot chocolate bar–a kettle on the stove, a jar of hot chocolate mix, and mugs. I used to keep a jar of marshmallows and crushed peppermint on the counter too, but let’s just say I had to move those up higher, away from little hands!

The laundry room gets a little greenery too, and a few of my favorite pillows!

Our Christmas tree is in the family room, and it’s one of the coziest spots in the house. We cut down our tree every year, and it’s definitely one of the highlights of the season. This year we went to a darling tree farm and in addition to the amazing trees, we also got a tour of their farm and a glimpse into the behind-the-scenes of getting a tree farm ready for people to visit. They (and the farm) were completely charming, and we are already looking forward to next year!

This year our Christmas cards are clipped on to the springs from an old crib, and it’s in my office, which you can see from the front door.

Thank you for joining my Christmas Home Tour! xoxo
