A couple of years ago I made these super cute Stars & Stripes Oreos for the 4th of July, and they are now a family (and friends) favorite! They’re so easy to make, and perfect for any patriotic party, BBQ or get together!!!
These are also really fun for kids to help with–mine loved the chocolate dipping and then drawing on the stars and stripes. It makes a great afternoon activity!
-candy melts: red, white, blue
1. Melt the white candy melts according to the package directions. You can use white chocolate chips too–just melt them in a glass bowl in the microwave in 30 second intervals, stirring in between, until they’re melted enough to stir smooth. I like using two forks to dip the Oreos into the white chocolate, but you can use whatever works best for you! Lay the dipped Oreos on a cookie sheet lined with wax paper, and refrigerate until the chocolate has hardened.
2. Melt the red and blue chocolate separately according to package directions. I use Wilton squeeze bottles to apply the stars and stripes, and I LOVE them. They’re only a few dollars at Joann Fabrics for Michael’s, and they make it to much easier to apply the chocolate! If you don’t have the squeeze bottles, you can use a sandwich bag with the tip snipped off. Add a blue star onto some of the cookies, and red stripes on the others. You could also do both stars and stripes on the Oreos too…whatever you like! Refrigerate the cookies until the chocolate has hardened, and then you’re ready to serve!
They really are so simple to make, and SO yummy!!! Package them up for a friend or neighbor, serve them at a party or gathering, or munch on them at home!
