Old Salt Farm: Summer Home DEcor

A peek into Old Salt Farm, and how I am decorating for the summer months. Inspiration for simple summer home decor.

Fresh flowers and greenery are my summer decor staple, and most of the time I’m using things from my own yard, which I love. It’s simple but lovely, and my favorite. I thought it would fun to be give you a peek into our house for a little summer home tour, featuring some of my favorite summer home decor. Here’s summer at Old Salt Farm! Welcome!

I tend to lean toward simple touches when it comes to decorating, and that includes my choices for summer home decor. It’s all about flowers, greenery, neutral colors, including navy, and grey. Then I can take advantage of all the beautiful flowers, like the peonies in my kitchen (and new white linen curtains!) Pillows and throws, great textures, and some gingham are also favorite additions.

Front porch and exterior

I kept my summer front porch simple—that’s just the way I like it. Crisp white rockers, blue gingham, vintage buckets, white flowers, and an American flag…perfection.

Dining room & Kitchen

Since we live in the woods, there is no shortage of greenery, and I utilize that all through the summer.  My kids are getting really good at cutting the perfect stems for me!  It’s amazing what a little greenery in a white vase will do for a room…I love it.

Fresh flowers are another simple way to add a pop of summer color to your space, and every week at our local grocery store I’d pick up a different bunch.

When I find really great faux flowers, I grab them up, because I love being able to use them all year round, or save them until that same season the next year. I came across these gorgeous white flowers at a local boutique, and I adore them in my family room all through the summer. I added a few flags in the pitcher to celebrate the 4th of July, and it was simple & patriotic.

Master Bedroom

I bought new bedding for our master bedroom at the beginning of the summer, and I’m in LOVE. This room is always white, but I use greenery on the nightstands during the summer for a summer feel.

We are at the library a lot during the summer, and our goal this summer is actually to visit all the libraries in our county!  We don’t need our lockers for backpacks right now, but it’s a great place to keep my kids’ library books.

I keep moving things around in the music room.  I’m planning built-in bookshelves (hopefully a winter project this year), and I think I just keep rethinking the rest of the space.  But it’s light and bright, and I love that!

Sometimes all you need is just a bit of greenery, like this simple green plant from IKEA. Perfect summer home decor, because it can also be used throughout the entire year.
